I am here to introduce myself as a writer of medical thrillers. Yeas ago, as a nurse practitioner, I wrote for medical and nursing journals, articles like: “Protein intake of preemies and subsequent brain development,” and “Cortical steroid treatment of chronic lung disease in the preemie.” Dry for sure, but interesting to me at the time.
Now, as a fiction writer, I write about physicians, nurses, big pharma, administrators, secretaries, housecleaning, and the personalities that make the hospital world go ‘round. Here on Substack I’ll be sprinkling a little fiction in with mosly nonfiction about our health care system, the miracles and dilemmas of modern day medicine, and the fun that comes with being in the health profession.
I am also an an acupuncturist. Somewhat ironically I have developed a heavy affinity for holistic, alternative medicine, usually rooted in eastern philosophy. My writings here on Substack will encompass both western and eastern medicine.
Stay tuned. I’ll be posting every couple of weeks. And please engage! Comment, question, argue, reply - whatever comes to you.
Here’s a photo of one view from my writing desk. I’m fortunate to live near the ocean, with nature all around - great way to get creative!
