Yesterday was…
Pub day! The day I’ve been working towards for the past five years. My book is finished, complete with a cover that I love. Hundreds of copies of it are sitting in a warehouse ready to send out to bookstores, to Amazon, to an array of online buyers. How do I feel? Relieved. Happy. Unsure of how the book will land - will it sell? Which, beyond my publicist’s and my best efforts to market it, will play out as it will.I have deep gratitude to all the people that helped make this happen and to the readers who purchase the book.
Today is …
Just another day :) Back at the computer, preparing for readings and talks at libraries and bookstores, but a sense of accomplishment and great satisfaction knowing that my book made it into the world.
Now, onto the next book which is about half way done. I have a fantastic editor who has been with me on this journey since the first edit of The Very Best of Care, and is another one on the long list of people for whom I am grateful. I’m on a time crunch to get the finished draft of this next book to him for another edit before sending it to my publisher who will work with me on getting it into sellable, marketable shape, by winter of 2026. And that is only if I get this current draft in presentable shape in the next three months.
Is it worth it? Absolutely. I’m not in it for the money or notoriety. I write because I love it. It offers me a creative outlet, where I can spend part of my day in a made-up place with my imaginary characters. I know their inner worlds, their thoughts and emotions. I am the master of their world.
Now, I must sign off, I have a manuscript to finish.
Congratulations on such an extraordinary literary accomplishment 💕 .. I’m looking forward to my summer reading!
Congrats, Julie!
